LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE
~ learning to care and to lead for today and tomorrow
As a school, we are a place of learning but we are also a community and a family and as such we wish to prepare our children for a world that is ever-changing and constantly challenging.
Kimpton is a school where pupils’ talents are recognised, their independence is encouraged, and the Christian nature of the school woven throughout everything we do and say. We offer a wide range of opportunities including a selection of clubs, close links with our local and neighbouring communities, sporting, curriculum and cultural links with other schools, and regular visits to places of interest throughout the South of England.
We have highly professional staff who encourage high standards of academic achievement and behaviour, and nurture the development of each child, encouraging them to excel to the best of their ability. For example, our ELSAs (Emotional and Literacy Support Assistants) run our ‘Feel the Force’ group for children with parents on active military service, offering them a room where they can talk about their feelings amongst peers who understand. We are always looking for ways to remove any barriers to learning that our pupils may have and instilling in them skills to lead themselves towards their goals.
By working together with our communities and following our ‘leadership qualities’ scheme, we help our children meet future challenges and successfully prepare them for secondary education and beyond. By promoting qualities such as ‘beginning with the end in mind’ and ‘seeking to understand before being understood’, we aim to prepare our pupils to be good citizens and leaders of tomorrow. As part of our commitment to this programme, we operate a Community Award scheme – pupils carry out good deeds outside of school and earn hours that culminate in a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award at the end of each half term. Leaders from our local community are invited to attend a special awards ceremony and present the badges to the pupils.
Relationships with our pre- and secondary schools are excellent and the children enjoy a smooth transition between pre-school and the Early Years Foundation Stage, and between Years 6 and Year 7 at secondary school as we work in partnership with parents and the wider community to provide continuity of provision.
